Shanley grew up in rural Manitoba and eventually moved to Winnipeg for her university education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology from the University of Manitoba in 2015 and graduated with a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2017.
Shanley holds a lot of value in continuing her education and has completed post-graduate courses such as taping and bracing, Orthopedic Level 1 and Acupuncture. She plans to take a dry needling course later this year. Shanley has a special interest in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy and achieved her certification in Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy in January 2019. It was her goal to be able to serve a wider range of individuals in this area of health and wellness, so she has since completed courses in Male Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, Pelvic Pain, Pregnancy and Postpartum, and Pediatric Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy.
Shanley is passionate about health and physical activity and has been involved in many different team sports including baseball, volleyball, and basketball. She is currently active in weight training, running, yoga, and has recently taken up soccer.
She believes in a holistic approach to rehabilitation and tries to integrate the knowledge she has gained from various courses and experiences into client-centred care. Her aim is to provide her patients with knowledge, tools and confidence to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
When she isn’t focused on client care and courses, she can be found walking through Assiniboine Park with her family and golden doodle, Nyx! Travel has also become a passion of hers, with stops throughout the Rocky Mountains, the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, and Africa!
